Sophia Wöhleke


Sophia Wöhleke is a German artist who works with analogue photography in order to explore ideas of place and identity. Exploring the duality of the strange and familiar, her works plays with the line between reality and fiction. She was brought up in an international context, speaking both French and German, attuned to fine cultural differences as a result, this has influenced her practice. After completing the highly competitive Magnum Photos internship program in 2018, she finished her postgraduate studies with distinction from University of the Arts London in 2019. In 2019, she won the Made in Arts London x Metro Imaging Mentorship and the Mercers’ Arts Award.
